He has become one of the best offensive co-ordinators in the ladder end of our season and he have shown little to know credit to him, and its due folks.
We always wanted the "big play" but his wear and tear offense has been exhausting teams to death to the point where we just finish them off in a 60 minute game. People say we sneak away with wins too much but I believe our plan is to use all 6o minutes to wear the opposition down, then put the dagger in. Props Mularkey! Nice gameplan!

He still has some "WTF are you doing" drives. But he has gotten better over the course of the season.

When the "wear and tear" offense doesn't work, what will MM do? That's the only question I have.
I still wish we'd go deep more. |

It's impossible to argue with the results he is getting.

9-2
It's hard to argue with that. |

Something changed after the Philly game, my guess is the "self analysis" that Smitty is always talking about. I find it to be a very good sign that he was able to change and not just remain stupid and stubborn like lots of us were saying (myself included)

RE: Come On Everyone, HUGE Props to Mularkey!
the reason the offense is better is because Mike Mularkey has finally taken the training wheels off the offense. He was very, very conservative and this led to a lot of 3rd downs when the run was getting shut down.
Finally I think Mularkey woke up before Ravens game and decided Matt Ryan was a stud that could carry this team and Matty Ice threw the ball almost 50 times. Now he's throwing it more - passing game is opening up the running game and Falcons offense is not so predictable - i think Falcons were too vanilla for a long time which made them easy to defend. I give Mike Mularkey all the credit in the world for the great offense now. I also give Mike Mularkey all the blame in the world when the offense was stagnating. it works both ways... |

The same thing an offense like the Saints, Eagles, or Green Bay do when their ridiculous passing numbers arent there or wont deliver them easy wins; adapt or lose. A better question might be: how will our TEAM adapt when we cant hold the ball as long as we would like to. ![]() (12-02-2010 06:30 PM)g-dawg Wrote: the reason the offense is better is because Mike Mularkey has finally taken the training wheels off the offense. The running game, even 0-2 yard gains up the middle, does the exact same thing that converting a high percentage of third downs does; tires a defense out and demoralizes them. Are you referring to our penchant to remain with the running plays instead of using one of those attempts to try and make a quick score down the field? If that is not what youre referring to, I honestly have no clue what sort of playcalling you think Mularkey used which was detrimental to our team. Its very easy to nitpick and say "that was a bad playcall" but you can do that to every single offensive coordinator in the league. You can do it multiple times over the course of a season, for everyone. We have had winning seasons, with this offense, three years in a row. Unless something catastrophic happens (knock on wood) we will go to the playoffs two out of those three years. The personnel has changed slightly, the scheme has evolved somewhat, but it is the same offensive philosophy we have had since TD and company took over. |
