RE: Dawgs vs. Boise Tonight 8pm ESPN
Wasn't this a 6-7 Georgia team from last year that could only score 6 points on UCF? Why in the hell were they ranked to start the season anyway.

I figured getting two proper NT's would help the D and Aaron Murray would continue to grow as a QB and really take the spot light. That may happen eventually this season but they just weren't good saturday. |

In the OP I specifically stated that Peterson was the best coach in college football and Boise plays fast and above their player's rankings. I gave them credit for being good. The only thing I did was hope that the size and speed advantages of UGA would be the difference. I hoped we would beat them as a result. I had no idea if we were better or worse and I never definitively stated we were. I made guesses and predictions, but I sure as shit didn't make any definitive claims. That said, bite me for trying to be e-badass on the interwebs. UGA has problems and now we know it for fact where as we could only speculate before. And by the way, those #5 and #19 rankings don't mean shit. Auburn started the season ranked 23rd last year and look how that went. |

Boise's "slow white" WRs beat Boykin, et al like rented mules....that's because they are fast and athletic. The whole Rivals "star" rating system is a joke and discriminates against white athletes at the WR/RB positions. That's why all the Georgia fans are sitting around today saying "I don't get it...how can their two stars beat our five stars...it must be CMR's fault" LMAO. Umm NO, they absolutely are/were not. Go check out Boise's roster and look up some of their players. Only 3 or 4 skill positions and a few DB's can run under a 4.5 and everybody else is 4.6+. And not a single OL or DL who can run under 5.0. Jarvis Jones, Christian Robinson, Alec Ogletree, and Ray drew can run 4.5 and they're freaking LB's for goodness sakes. Jon Jenkins is a 6'4" 340 lb DT and he runs 4.8 and the 4 DE's, Jones, Smith, Tyson, and Lott all run 4.9s. Boykin, Smith, Mitchell, and Scott-Wesley can all run 4.3 or even better. Scott-Wesley holds 3 state records in track and he and Mitchell might actually run 4.2x. Crowell, Wooten, King, Troupe, Brown, Williams, Love, Sanders, Swann, and Moore are all 4.4 guys. Orsen Charles is a TE who can run 4.5. Hell even Aaron Murray is a 4.6 guy. Pretty much everybody else in a skill position or depth in the secondary and LB corps is at least a 4.7 or better. And when you go down the freshmen and redshirt depth, kids just coming into the program are all similar or even faster than current starters (hence the stupid "Dream Team" name). What you said is absolutely silly. A slower and smaller much less athletic team beat the snot out of a faster, bigger, and more athletic team because of the reasons I stated earlier and not going to get into again. |

Because rankings don't mean shit. Again, look at Auburn last year for a perfect example. UGA was going into second year of a switch from 4-3 to 3-4 with an NFL level DC. They got Jarvis Jones transfered from USC (5-star LB) to replace Justin Houston. They got 2 NT's who are 6'4-6'5 340-350 lbs, when last year they played an undersized DT (Tyson, who now plays DE/DT). They have 2 CB's who can run 4.3x, one of which holds the SEC record for ST kick return TD's. They have 2 1st-2nd round projected NFL OLinemen (C & LT). They have a sophmore QB who broke several freshmen records last year and had the second best QB stats in the SEC overall. They have a top 3 in the country TE who can run and catch better than most WR's. And they recruited the #1 RB in the country who people hoped would be another Marcus Lattimore (and he still could be, the kid is ridiculously good, but the OL isn't as good as hoped for). And another freshmen recruit in Malcolm Mitchell who could also be a top tier WR (and this is no joke, he might just be as talented as AJ Green in a couple years, except faster). UGA has shit tons of talent and they could have actually been ranked higher, but there was scepticism about the OL, the youth of the team, and of course the coaching. And rightly so. I'm telling you, if Saban or Peterson were coaching these kids at UGA, this team would be a contender. The talent is that good. |

RE: Dawgs vs. Boise Tonight 8pm ESPN
I'm not a fan of UGA or Boise St but what I saw was a bunch of fat slow offensive linemen getting dominated by undersized quick defensive linemen. An undisciplined team being outclassed and a coaching staff being outcoached. I was amazed at how easy Boise St made it look but hey it is what it is.. A top 5 team came to Atlanta and took care of business like they were supposed to do. If some Georgia fans were delusional enough to think that they were going to win this game based on the fact that they're in the big bad SEC where they're stronger and faster then I guess they got their reality check Saturday night. Beat South Carolina and all is forgotten anyway.

Their WR's weren't blowing by anyone. Their longest pass play was only 20 yards. Moore only averaged 7.7 YPR for 261 total yards on 28 catches for fuck sakes. But yeah, those Boise WR's were lighting it up smokin UGA's DB's in those really long 8 yards!! Right. The reality is, their offensive game plan put at least 1 receiver in open space all night and Moore brilliantly read the defense and knew what would be open or he checked down his progressions until he found the open guy or he simply threaded the damn needle like a rocket surgeon. It had nothing to do with Boise being faster than UGA because they simply aren't. They simply outcoached and game-planned the hell out of us and kicked our ass with a ton more heart and desire. WR: Mitch Burroughs 5'9" 190 lbs, 4.47 40, no ranking coming out of highschool WR: Matt Miller 6'3" 213 lbs, 4.55 40, 3-star ranking WR: Tyler Shoemaker 6'1" 213 lbs, 4.68 40, no ranking 2007 Commits: Mitch Burroughs, Doug Martin, and Titus Young all 4.4x speed guys 2008 Commits: Nobody under 4.5 speed 2009 Commits: Nobody under 4.5 speed 2010 Commits: 1 4.4x guy 2011 Commits: 1 4.4x guy So yeah, Boise has a whopping "5" commits in the past 5 recruiting classes who can run under 4.5 while UGA has like 5x that amount in the same time. Hell, the 2011 class alone has 7 guys that can run 4.4x or better. AJ Green Combine results: 4.48 40 So you're trying to say that Tyler Shoemaker who ran a 4.68 40 last year is some how faster than AJ Green. Right. You done being wrong yet? |
