It wouldn't surprise me. Dude is probably a lock for at least a top 10 pick.

RE: After Tonight...
Right I'm going by the scenario I see most likley. I had broken down 3 scenarios and then done strains within them but I am not killing abother hour and a half writing that again. So here we go with how I think we can go in round 1:-

Key Off Season Transactions

Retirement: Gonzalez, McClure (We win the superbowl both ride off into the sunset, we don't but come close I think Gonzalez could come back and would be wanted, McClure I think he get an FO gig if he wants it but I'm not sure he would be re-signed again considering we only gave him a 1 year deal)
Re-signed: William Moore, Sam Baker (stuck with him when he was shocking, Holmes was an insurance policy for 2013 if we had to let him go I think we can keep him)
Re-Structured: McClain 4 year deal with escalators in year 3 and 4 when he is likely to have taken a starting role

2013 NFL Draft

1st to 3rd round any of in any order TE/RB/DE

Tight End: Only one tight end is 1st round good in my opinion and that is Tyler Eifert. His recent 1st round graded contemporaries at the position slipped into the 2nd round and the same could happen to him. The reason why I have his position and thus himself here as an option is beacause of the importance of that position to our offense. We thrive on having a big body able to attack the middle of the field and create mismatches. We also have a grading system that pits the players on our draft board against the players on our roster. At the top end of this metric system the players are graded with a view of replacing starters not being just good enough to back them up. If Gonzalez does retire Eifert's grade would definitely be higher than the grade on any of our internal guys. This being said, there are players in the draft who will also grade out higher than our current guys that can be had in the 2nd and 3rd. Lutz, Ertz, Fauria, Toilolo, Stoneburner

Guys Like Dwayne Allen come to mind here recording 521 yards on 45 receptions and 3 TD's with a rookie QB on a team that is rebuilding where he wasn't even meant to be the number 1 option at that position.
Here is where with the first round pick it becomes a case of BPA at a position of need.

Running Back: As the trend of the NFL has evolved to passing and pass rushing being at a premium the number of 1st round running backs has taken a dive. Teams are finding greater production from RBs who are 2nd round prospects and beyond. However there are still prospects who demonstrate the skill set toughness and ability to be premier backs from day one, and as such they get drafted on day one. This year most of the RBs that fall into this category are of the quality that they will be taken at the back end of the draft's opening day. Many of the NFL's better rushing teams are that way because they have deficiencies in passing that need to be taken care of first, and thus Atlanta are very much in a position to pick from the cream of this crop should they choose to as again like with TE the number 1 player at the position has a very high probability of being there. Atlanta needs an all purpose back, an inside, outside pass catching running back that runs with strength speed and vision. If there was a player this complete he wouldn't be available at the back end of the draft, however there are guys who when once they enter an NFL programme will develop quickly into those types of players. Running backs currently carrying a potential 1st round grade are:- Bernard, Randle, Taylor and Bell

Of these backs I would see Bernard, Randle and Taylor being good fits for the Falcons. Taylor is the only one of the three who I think has a grade that can flutaute and that isn't a bad thing. What should be clear form this is that there are names like Bell and Lacey who should we should we choose to pick a big powerful back like that will be avaiable later in the draft if we choose another direction such as...

DE: This position is heavy in this NFL draft and much like Seattle did with Irvin, we are in a position to grab a guy and develop him rather than have to rush him onto the field straight away. The player we take here won't be the best at their position and if you do believe in value then you have to think if Eifert or the best back is on the board we take one of them instead and address DE in 2nd instead or possibly not at all, going on to make a big splash in 2014 akin to the Julio Jones trade. Guys who come up in our 1st spot here are Ezekiel Ansah and Alex Okafor.

Of the two I would rather go for Ansah if he is there. as the kid although inexperience is a beast. It's a good fit for us, we don't need him to be experienced straight away, we need him to listen soak in everything he can and make plays when we send him in.

Outside of the first at present I'm not sure about the DEs, but what's clear is that there will be some guys who fall out of the first as the draft board becomes clearer who could be there in the 2nd or make us trading down for 2 2nd rounders more appealing.

He's currently projected as a late 1st round pick from NFL Draft Scout. If he doesn't shoot up the boards, we could have a shot at landing him.

My guy is Margus Hunt. Don't give a damn that he is going to be a 26 year old rookie, the guy is going to be a MONSTER in the NFL. Might end up shooting up draft boards once he gets his workouts in though.

I made that post last night forgetting about Barrett Jones having surgery on his left foot. That will most likely keep him from being able to work out for any teams before the draft and his stock could slide because of that. We could have a shot at him in the late 1st round.

I really cant think of one.

Also let's take a look at the Bama players since Saban has gotten there. I'm not sure of the type of schemes they ran before him, but his scheme is strictly pro style, which makes a HUGE difference in being NFL ready.
