Cleveland Browns Release RB James Davis
Now I am not one to create thread after thread on potential players that were released that the Falcons should take a look at, but this is one of them. James Davis, is the lesser known of the two from Clemson to most people. However, before CJ Spiller came along James Davis strung together 2 1,000+ rushing yard seasons in a row. His senior year he was injured but he still lead the team in rushing.

The reason why we should take a look at him is because he might be the change of pace back that we all have been wanting. I would think that playing for the Falcons would be on the top of his list as he was born in Atlanta, Georgia. He is 5'11 and 218 lbs. Here are his numbers from the combine.

40 yd Dash: 4.55
10 yd split: 1.53
20 yd split: 2.62
20 yd shuttle: 4.37
3 Cone Drill: 7.15
Vert: 32 inches
Broad: 9'01"
Bench Press: 17 reps

------

I think he would fit in well here, and would benefit from playing in front of his home crowd, a la Dunta Robinson. Thoughts?

In all seriousness, kind of surprised that guy hasn't stuck in the NFL. He was a damn good RB in college.

RE: Cleveland Browns Release RB James Davis
I actually like James Davis a lot. Hyped him up in dynasty league fantasy circles when he was coming out of college. Never really got a chance in Cleveland and a few injuries have put him behind the 8 ball. I think GB would be smart to scoop him up. He could still turn into a fine RB for the right team, even in a 3rd down role because personally I don't trust Mangini's assessment of anything really. Awful HC.

RE: Cleveland Browns Release RB James Davis
After his final season in College he was pretty much seen as the sloppy seconds in Clemsons running game. Everyone saw CJ Spiller and his big play ability that they forgot all about James Davis and the great numbers he put up. I bet you he would do wonders for our team if utilized correctly. The man was drafted in the 6th round, so obviously money isn't an issue. I've never heard any off field things about the kid, and as I previously stated he is from Georgia. I don't see how this couldn't be a win/win for us. He is only 24, and if things don't work out, we don't have much to lose financially.

Bring him in for a tryout. If he doesn't impress, no big deal, if he does, don't let the door hit your ass on the way out Norwood.

Super. We didn't sign him cause we're holding that spot for some 6th round DII lineman we draft through the Patriot way.

Meh...not like the fans have a say in anything that happens at Flowery Branch.

I know. I'm ready for some speed on this team though.
