Carson Palmer is apparently determined to leave Cincinnati.

Palmer, who has demanded the Bengals trade him, told a confidant he "will never set foot in Paul Brown Stadium again," WCPO-TV in Cincinnati reported Tuesday.

Bengals owner Mike Brown said in January that he will not trade Palmer because the quarterback is crucial to the team's plans.

Several sources told ESPN senior NFL analyst Chris Mortensen in January that Palmer will contemplate retirement if the Bengals do not trade him.

According to Tuesday's report, Palmer said "I have $80 million in the bank. I don't have to play football for money. I'll play it for the love of the game but that would have to be elsewhere. I'm prepared to live my life."

Palmer hasn't talked to the media since making his trade request. A text message seeking comment wasn't returned. Agent David Dunn released a statement saying that "because of the lack of success that Carson and the Bengals have experienced together, Carson strongly feels that a separation between him and the Bengals would be in the best interest of both parties."

Palmer was the franchise's building block when it made him the first overall pick in 2003, Marvin Lewis' first season as coach. He led the Bengals to the playoffs in 2005 and 2009 -- their only winning records in the past 20 years -- and rebounded from severe knee and elbow injuries along the way.

If he "retires" how does it work with his contract if he pulls a Favre? Coming back to another team, not dick-shots.

LOL I was just thinking about that. Maybe he was so upset he didn't think to word it better. The Bengals are fools if they don't trade him asap though. Their teams has a ton of needs, and they are more than likely looking at another rebuilding year.

You would think that, but normal logic does not apply when you're dealing with Mike Brown.

They are probably gonna have one of the worst records next year with or without him. Trade him and next year you might get Andrew Luck.

What i dont like is when Chad Johnson did this.... Dude was vilified and made out to look ignorant... All i heard was.. They paid him.. now he wants more money... Not thinking about his team.

Palmer is doing it and all i hear is.... Something must be wrong in the Bengals organization if a guy like Palmer wants out... Or... They just need to trade the guy.

Why is Palmer not feeling any heat ?

Dude basically saying yall paid me over 80million... I dont have to do anything i dont want to do....

Where is his love for his team mates.

I know the Bengals organization is crazy.... I have no problem want a player wanting out if he feels his team is doing him wrong... What i dontlike is the 2 different ways these stories are being talked about.

Good for Carson Palmer. Without him, there will be no one to throw that late 4th quarter interception and ruin any playoff chances the Bengals had be week 4.

The Bengals would still own the rights to him if he un-retired. Jake Plummer did the same thing with the Bucs. The Bucs would still own his rights if he came back.

Ive always liked Palmer. He's a good QB, but since he hurt his arm, and since TJ Hoosyomamma left he hasnt been the same. Ochocinco is not a #1 WR anymore and that hasnt helped.
