Cardinals RB Wells' status vs. Falcons a game-time decision
TEMPE, Ariz. -- Beanie Wells was limited in practice again Friday, and Arizona Cardinals coach Ken Whisenhunt said the running back's participation against the Atlanta Falcons this weekend will be a game-time decision.

Wells has been limited in practice all week because of a bruised right knee. He gave the knee a strong test Thursday and insisted afterward that he would "definitely" go through a full practice Friday. But Whisenhunt said the knee swelled up a bit overnight, so Wells was limited again.

Wells, a second-year pro from Ohio State and Arizona's leading rusher last season, sat out last week's season-opening victory at St. Louis. He was injured against the Washington Redskins in the Sept. 2 preseason finale.

Wells was listed as questionable for Sunday's game, as were Cardinals defensive end Kenny Iwebema (knee) and safety Hamza Abdullah (groin).

Smokescreen? If I was a bettin' man, I'd bet Wells ends up playing. If I'm not mistaken, they did ok on the ground w/out him anyway. Hopefully, the D can shut that down better than the Lambs did.

Only reason I care if he plays or not is because Tim Hightower fumbled a shit ton Sunday. If Wells plays, less opportunity to strip the ball from Tim.

I was flipping back and forth between that game and GB/Philly. Didn't remember Hightower stinking it up like that, but it did seem when the HoBirds pass game wasn't working, they'd go back to the run, and have at least a little success. Maybe we'll get lucky.

I didn't actually see the game, I just heard that they had fumbling problems last week. I think Lofton even mentioned it in an interview this week, saying "Yeah, we're aware of that" with a kind of menacing tone.

Edit: I just looked up his stat line, and yes, he fumbled and lost 2 balls.

I think one may have been a dropped pitch-out. Do they record that differently, since it wasn't a true handoff?

I'm not sure, probably not. If the drop was on him, I guess it goes on him. A bad pitch would probably go on the QB.

Well, if it's the play I remember, it shouldn't have been on Derek. Easily catchable, he just bobbled it, maybe kind of out of position like Norwood was in the Pitt game. Anyway, I've seen Hightower plenty, I'm kind of interested in seeing how our D would do against Wells. He's pretty good from what I understand. But still somewhat of an "unknown" for them.
