A lot of the issues came from that and Nolan has to get that corrected for next week, you could tell Smith didn't like the way they ended the game, Im just happy for Gonzo. Ding ding....We pulled Abe for some reason......I think the good point is we kept pressure on RW all day....the good news is when he ran he didn't get huge yardage....I think Kaepernick will run everytime and is not as good on the running throws where RW excelled.......We should be able to stop Kaepernick and if we can bait him into a couple of fumbles or INTs we should be ok..... SF Secondary is not as good....if GB can put up some points so should we...the key is limiting those huge runs by Kaepernick.....if we can crown that boy a few times....we should be okay..... But this is no cakewalk and we need 60 full minutes of football! |

They pulled Abe because he reinjured his Ankle at the end of the 2nd quarter.

RE: Can anyone explain how/why we disappeared for the 3rd and part of 4th quarters?
It was more about them exploiting our coverage than anything else. Their TE killed us in the first half (really all day) in soft coverage and they finally started relying on that at other positions to move the ball going into the fourth quarter. It worked, but they just left too much time on the clock. We have seen it happen multiple times this year and in years past.
The calls on defense changed based on the score and what we expected the Seahawks to do; with maybe a little sprinkle of not having Abe out there and blown tackles. When you anticipate a team's tendencies and get it wrong, they put up 28 points in one half. Whether you can chalk it up to player execution due to playing great in the first half, or not, is debatable |

You can throw a lot of the stuff from today out, next week is a new wekk. There are a few key mental things that will carry over - one no matter how big of a lead we have we won't let up and no matter how much we trail by we won't give up.

RE: Can anyone explain how/why we disappeared for the 3rd and part of 4th quarters?
I don't know what happened to the defense in the 2nd half. But after the Seahawks made it 20-7 to open the 2nd half the Falcons cameback with an almost 8 minute drive for a TD that made it 27-7 (the only Falcons offensive possession of the 3rd quarter). And then it was like Ryan lost his concentration or relaxed and lost his intensity. He didn't play well in the 4th quarter. He missed some easy throws and made a really dumb decision on that interception. But then bang the switch came back on and he made the 2 great throws at the end of the game. And I think HD needs more credit for that catch he made. To hang on while getting smacked square in the back isn't easy.

RE: Can anyone explain how/why we disappeared for the 3rd and part of 4th quarters?
I didn't so much think it was Ryan, but the play calls in the 3rd/4th that seemed "suspect" - I mean, on that INT, the run was working earlier in that drive, and killing clock, so the pass route was unnecessary, and even risky, before Ryan even snapped the ball. Then, the late JJ screen was an unnecessary risk behind the line, which the Seahawks were obviously looking for. For once, I would have even preferred Turner up the gut 3 straight! And more Quizz checkdowns seemed to be there.
I trust our team and OC, but think that quarter and a half "could have gone better" from our coaches. Seemed... panicky, even. Formerly SBC Falcon

I think nerves might have gotten to them, it kinda started to snowball there but fortunately they were able to regroup. That's a one time deal though. The pressure is off now. They have done it now, they don't have to feel like they are carrying the weight of the entire city on their backs. They don't have to field anymore questions about can they win a playoff game. Today was huge psychologically, now they can just worry about playing Falcons football.

Julio end around has been a positive play for us all season but not that time. I still don't understand the interception. Why did Ryan throw it into double coverage like that when it wasn't there. Where was the outlet option? ![]()
