Can Justin Houston play Defensive End in the NFL in 4-3?
I just watched Justin all year(Dawgs fan y'know) and here is a highlight reel of just 4 games where Justin makes play after play after play - many from a "down" position in the pass rush.
Justin can definitely "bend the edge" and close on the QB. At issue is his size which is rumored to be 6'3" and 255lbs - which is a little light in the pants to be a 4-3 DE in the NFL. In fact, Justin is about the exact same size as Kroy Bierrman. What do you guys think? I just don't know. If we ran a 3-4 I would definitely be interested in the guy..... |

He played 4-3 DE his first 2 years but I believe he is a better player as a 3-4 OLB.

Watch the Packers take Justin Houston....uggh! |

He probably COULD, but not only would he likely be better in a 34, he will also very likely be drafted before our pick because of his experience.

We drafted Kroy for the same playmaking abilities he had when in a down position on the line. (He was also a LB). I really don't think we need another Kroy Biermann type player. Right now, I think Houston could play DE, much like Biermann has come in and done. But I wouldn't want the Falcons to take him for that purpose. If anything, he would be an immediate downgrade from Biermann at DE. He could be better in the future, but he for sure wouldn't get better without playing time at the position.

Like others have said, he could but I think he's ideal for a 3-4.
Plus, I don't think Justin would have the kind of instant impact some would be hoping for in a 4-3. |

agreed......Justin Houston is ideally suited to be a 3-4 OLB - with the right team I think he can be a star in the NFL - but only as a 3-4 OLB - as a 4-3 DE he will be much like Kroy - I was leaning that way and you guys have convinced me my first instinct was right - thanks...
