Re: Buzz around NFL is Steven Jackson is coming to Atlanta
Just got back from the Bahamas, thread is tl;dr but I can quickly summarize. I've always liked Stephen Jackson, Aftermath thinks it's a bad idea, therefore I'm all for it.

RE: Buzz around NFL is Steven Jackson is coming to Atlanta
Sorry to be the adult in the room but the message board GM's have not a clue what the Falcons front office is intending to do in the offseason.
However their guess is just as good as anyone else's. I love the Falcons and to hell with anyone who doesn't! |

LOL@ BEEF telling someone to go get educated.GTFO. First you know shit about the salary cap. 2nd we didn't sign Ray Edwards last season. We did that move in 2011. The Falcons restructured Dunta cap past season which helped and they also reworked Asante . Why do you think Falcons went basement bargain hunting last year and not to break bank for Lofton instead rather sign Lofa and Manu? It's cause we were up against the cap. You talk about giving a extentsion to Ryan. Do you know he has a cap hit of only 10 million. With the talk of Flacco getting 20 mil per season and Ryan aiming for those numbers it will be pretty hard to save any type of cap space or create cap space with that big of a contract unless you are prepared to heavy back load a Ryan ext which will not be the brightest thing in world considering we are going to have to pay Julio soon as well so any deal Ryan gets his numbers will be spread and gradually raised . I would break down the cap ramifications for Ryan contract and take your hand step by step but you will just over look it . So no fucking need to waste my time Right now Falcons are 10 mil under the cap. With cap being 123 mil Cut Dunta - 6 million Cut Turner -6 million After those two logical cuts sit around 22 million to work . Lets break it down from there Tony G returning -5 mil ( we at 17 million now) 50/50 he returns Falcons own free agent depth Walker, McClain,Svitek, Hope, McGown 3.5 mil off 2013 cap (we at 13.5 mil) unless we think DD is ready to be backup if not take 1 mil there Falcons rookie allotment pool 4.5 ( we at 9 mil big HOMIE) Baker ?? did you just take a look at Will Beaty contract. It's friendly up front and this year helps Giants out but he got paid . I will say Sam Baker gets a 4 year deal for 24 million. That would be a fair shake of a deal for a player that put together only one solid season -3 million of 2013 Falcons cap ( we at 6 million) Willam Moore - even though it's been reported by morons in the media I don't believe TD is that dumb to franchise him and we get a deal similar to Baker for an injury player that has upside. Possible might even be more consider Moore is a pro bowl player with huge upside . 4 years 27 million -3 million off 2013 salary cap ( we at 3 million) Stephen Jax -3 years 8 million since short term and whatever signing bonus he gets -2.5 mil off cap ( we up against cap homie ) Now we have no corner since cutting Dunta and we will be drafting one We could cut Babs and save some cap and sign an free agent corner we could extend Roddy deal open up some cap Falcons won't be major players in free agency and you can take that to the bank class dismissed ![]() I'm delusional from our playoff loss against GB . RE: Buzz around NFL is Steven Jackson is coming to Atlanta
@ Swift - Those numbers are pretty accurate but if I recall our rookie allotment last year was 2.3 mil. So I seriously ask why would it be almost double this year and I know you did this before we cut Abe so how much does that give us as well?

We didnt have a first round pick last year or 4th round Released Abe adds 1.5 in dead $ but his cap hit was 7 mil so we save around 5.5 ![]() I'm delusional from our playoff loss against GB . RE: Buzz around NFL is Steven Jackson is coming to Atlanta
So based on your mock above we would be at about 6 mil under the cap. That leaves room just in case some of those contracts need more attention or to sign someone else like a Freeney or Osi or to keep. Interesting

Ugh, wall of angry man blabber. You're by far the least credible person in all of Falcon forum land. So all your opinion injections make anything you say inaccurate as fuck. I never said we signed Edwards last year, I just said what we paid him and that by cutting him we saved some money. Nobody said we would be big players in FA. But with just releasing Turner, Abe, and Dunta, the guys on the radio are going over the numbers with DLed and he's saying we are re-signing Baker, Moore, and Grimes while then having enough for Tony and at least one decent size FA. However he doesn't think Tony is coming back so he says we'll have plenty for 2 good FA's. Also says he thinks we renegotiate Blalock, don't re-sign McClure, and re-do Matt's contract with an extension that is cap friendly over the next few years. Anyways, you gotta get off my nuts. Your obsession with me and contradicting everything I say is creepy. Take your meds and find a new hobby. |

Grimes, Asante, and McClain means we won't have to go CB high in the draft. They really like Massaquoi to replace Abe, but looks like we're going more towards a defined 3-4 and he fits this much better than Abe. Looks like we're going for a NT and another tweener 3-4'ish pass rushers. And of course it's clear now that RB is an absolute definite with Turner gone. So either draft or FA or both. I think we do both. |
