Even then you have Moore and Baker that need to be resigned, add in Steven Jackson and TG and we are pretty much at our breaking point without finding a CB to replace Robinson. Personally I'd let Moore walk and go after a safety in the draft but most people are not a big fan of this idea, but it would allow us to sign a FA. Even with all of that we still didn't address our biggest needs on D. We can add every pro bowl player on O over the age of 30 and we still won't be going anywhere with an aging D that will struggle to maintain their level of play, forget about improving. If we are going to spend any significant money in FA, which I don't think we will, I'd prefer that we spent it on D.

Not sure why you're pushing this exaggeration. We had less cap flexibility last year and yet some how we paid Grimes $10M, Ray Edwards $5M, re-signed virtually all of our FA's, and then added Asante.

And we're going to have more flexibility this year. We already released Edwards, about to release Turner, won't be paying Grimes $10M+, likely wont have McClure's contract any longer, are surely going to re-do Matt's contract which will also be friendly to this year's cap, and also likely going to re-do Dunta's.

You're going overboard on your contentions dude. There's some articles out there explaining our situation. Go get educated before commenting.

If you can sign any running back who can average 4.00 yards per carry for the last two years, sign him! I love a third and 2! The D does not know if it will be run or pass!

I love the Falcons and to hell with anyone who doesn't!

The 2004 pats signed an over the hill Corey Dillon at 29. He ran for 1600 yards and they won another Super Bowl. He might be the piece we need.

Said the exact same thing earlier in the thread. Take a #1 RB from a team that is consistently bad and give him new life. He run like he has never run before.

If we make a move like this to me it means that we think our window is closing this year or next. rather than continuing to build for the future like we have been we would be building for 2013, at the expense of the future. signing old vets with 1 or 2 years left just seems to smack of desperation. Fortunately, I don't think we will have the cap room to sign a Freeney or an Osi or a Jackson.

Suicide my ass.... I think we can sign 1-2 of these folks because they want to play for a contender.....we don't have to break the bank....it doesn't mean our window is closing, it means we want to use some veterans that are hungry for a superbowl......and then we can concentrate on getting added depth....the draft is deep with utility players but as dimitroff said the WOW factor guys are not too many......

you put some hungry vets....some who have seen those playoffs and superbowls....stars that other teams have discarded....and you find that when younger players see them.....they get that drive.....

Signing good veterans with a couple of years left....is FINE...people have been saying ABE was washed up for last 3 years....yet he always performs decent (not necessarily stellar.....) but that is what we need decent performers.....as for building it means you can take some of those athletes in the draft that have talent but need guidance.....

we have some spots....cut some dead weight guys like sidbury (he certainly isn't our future DE), also perhaps TD and Smitty realize they missed on a few folks....you just never know.... JAX for Turner EASY choice and if we DRAFT a RB we are stupid anyway....there are so many decent utility backs (EVERY year).....Quizz can hold the fort down when Jax leaves (but by then we will find someone)....

And everyone seems to forget ol snelling.....the guy was a monster when turner went down before we had quiz.....we had offers to trade him and we turned them down.....last year....he got very little action.....but I think we would be fine with him and Quiz.....Jax is gravy....and gravy is GOOD!

then Sidbury for Dwight or OSI which everyone feels the bill better.....so now why is this suicide.....upgrading why we look for better replacements?

Abraham had 3 sacks and 17 tackles over the last 11 games of the season. That's really making an impact right there!
