Very cool. Glad to hear him call bs on the pass interference call haha. Hilarious that Tony G was attempting the tackle. Reminds me of the picture of Norwood in the Falcons complex with Peterson missing a tackle haha.

RE: Brent Grimes Video... Man Cave
Can someone give me the history/background of the Hick'ry Stick?

Ive heard about it since I joined AFMB last training camp but I still am not sure what it is.

Well I will try to give you the clif notes. Superfan started a smacktalk style cartoon around a character called Falco on the AFMB then later on incorparated him carrying a stick which was dubbed the Hickry Stick. It then evolved into a fan appreciate award voted on via poll where Tandy gave write ups she later turned it over to BC Eagle. And last season it saw it come to fruition with help from Jay Adams presenting it to the players. Thats when Supes even carved the actual stick! And our Gritz also paints on the plaques given to the players. It was a truely great thing although it had its bumps in the road such as Tandy taking flack from other MB'rs and at one point Supes either stepping down on being let go by the Falcons as official illustrator depending on view point how it went down. But it is still going as of the end of this season and the players who won it Roddy, Matt, and Brent seem to LOVE it.

Great vid. First time I've seen the actual hickry stick. Looks sweet.

Brent claims he can do a behind the back dunk. Would love to see that.

I love it he's just a normal family guy. I don't think we're gonna see a lot of shenanigans from him.

Anyone else get excited when he pulled out the hickory stick award? I really love the relationship between this team and fans.

Ive heard about it since I joined AFMB last training camp but I still am not sure what it is.

This is the story of how the HSA came to be.
By Karst41 the creator of the HSA.
Supes had been doing Smackdowns periodically, and
for the most part Falco was holding a Stick.

Special notation:
The forums started calling it a Hickory Stick
(as the old southern saying goes)and Supes added "Hickory Stick" on to the drawing.
Also noteworthy:
The original Drawings of the Hickory Stick, was from an actual stick laying
on the ground of Supes property.

Onto the rest of the story.
Tandy, being Tandy of course pointed out to Supes that the "Hickory Stick
was pronounced Hick'ry Stick (its a southern thang yall)

So as the forums were rambling along, the epiphany hit me like a ton of bricks.

The key was how to pull it off so it would become more than a one time thing.

So the first thing that I did was to pm a few long time forum members to get
their opinion on "if" this would be a good idea and also be FUN.

So before I contacted Supes about this I had a few discussions with Tandy.

I can tell every one of you that if not for Tandys efforts in writing up the weekly
summaries and Poll the HSA would have not taken root.

The second phase of this was to come up with the correct way to present
this idea to Superfan, because he already spends tons of hours on the smack downs, and I knew that he would be reluctant to have something else to draw.

Upon contacting Supes with the Idea, I can tell you that he had some reservations about doing this, and I told him that I understood, and if he did so that it would have to be a One Time Drawing that would be a Plug and Play.
This way the only thing that would change from week to week would be a photo
of the winning player and his name on the plaque.

Supes thought about it and one day I got a call and was told to check my Email.

Good Gawd ah mighty folks, Supes hit a Grand Slam and told me that he fell in love with the whole Idea.

So from there on it was week to week of exhausting work from Tandy writing it up, and that is why it took root.

So while it was my Idea, it was Tandys supreme efforts that made this thing happen.

In time the write ups were so intensive that a few others had to take over.
Peyton did a couple, Gritz did some and so did Supes.
If I failed to mention someone, by all means step forward.

I must tell you all that these write ups were as good or better than any Sports Journalism that you will ever read on any National or Global Level.

BCEAGLE (Lindsay) finally took over the job, andshe is a fantastic writer too, but was also overwhelmed with the volume of work that it takes to get a HSA in motion, and this is One of the reasons that it went to a Quarterly Format.

So while the Idea was mine, the above mentioned people are the ones who may
the HSA a Go!

My rewards to date for this Idea have been to witness what it has become,
and Brents Man Cave Video brought a couple of tears to my eyes.

The Other reward that I received was from Supes.
Supes had to trim off a segment of the Actual Hick'Ry Stick
to bring it to the correct size.

Supes gave it to me and it is genuine miniature Hick'ry Stick from
the original.
He Wrote The Hick'ry Stick on one side and Autographed the other.

It is a True to the word Hick'ry Stick that had to be used one day, and
it hit home and true on the first whack.

But that is another story in itself. Wink

And that is the story of how the HSA Came to be.
