Cheap excuse and another inaccuracy. Post #9 was in reference to the thread topic.

Your post had no reference to the thread title and it was specifically the post in regards to your inaccurate comparison of TG getting to 1000 yards receiving and Brees passing the Marino record.

I do see that it is very difficult for you admit when you are wrong or off. I noticed that when a few weeks ago the Falcons...

...."crushing the Saints playoff hopes, and Brees record was fantastic" (a little reference to post #9)

ok lets get the thread back on track here. This was no doubt a signature win, and yes one of my favorites in recent memory. I'm gonna also throw out the beat down we put on Philly this year, and add it to the list.

That game had so many "humps" we seemed to get over, it has to go pretty high in the list of favorite games.

But yes, this one definitely had a very sweet sweet savor to it

As far as this season, I rate them like this from most satisfying to least (I think they were all awesome and pretty much equal): Broncos, Giants, Saints, Philly.

I don't put very much stock at all into "statement" games but am judging these based on how we played and the level of competition.

The Philly game wasn't a big deal. They suck too much this year for it to mean anything.

seems to me, that we got UP more for those games than any of the other ones, except maybe KC. Being the first game of the season they came out on fire for that one, esp with some of the media picking us to get blown out. We also played a good game against the then undefeated chargers, but we didn't seem to be 'up' for that one as much as the 4 you mentioned, at least in my opinion

I'm also of the mind that the last panties game, in hindsight of course looking at how we played, was indeed a trap game. Maybe they were just looking past the panties to the gnats. Funny but in the video of Stephen A Smith and skippy boy, we were called a trap game for the giants.....

That's so beyond disrespectful.

How is an 11-2 team a trap game for a 8-5 team????

Its not.

"Trap Game" is simply a term the media can use so that the lowest common denominator can excuse their team for losing without giving the FULL blame to their team, or the FULL credit to the team that beat them. Its a stupid fucking term, especially in a league where every single player and coach have devoted (usually) their entire lives to honing a pin point focus on executing their jobs to perfection.

Using the excuse of mentally overlooking an opponent, when it comes to professional sports, is idiotic and a straight cop-out.

Well honestly I believe in trap games because teams get overlooked.

Being in sports and competition at one point in my life, I have overlooked teams before and have lost or barely won said trap games.

But I have never ever come across a team with a better record AND above that the Giants were in a game that is almost necessary to win for them to get in the playoffs. They cannot lose a single game or their odds of going to the playoffs are very slim. This is the exact opposite of a trap game.

Matter of fact the Panthers game is the classic definition of a Panthers game.

It has no bearing on our future that cant be fixed.
No immediate NEED to win
The Panthers were already beaten earlier this year so no grudge
They had a way worst record than us AND
The Panthers game fell in between our most hated rivals and achilles heel AND a team that kicked us out of the playoffs last year and beat us down doing it.

We were talking earlier today about how it was possible that both the saints and Falcons suffered a bit of a hangover from the Thursday night showdown.

RE: Best win for me since we went to the SB
I understand competition and have been involved in sports myself, as well as mental competition that had nothing to do with sports. There is a reason I am not a professional at those things. An entire team (including coaches) overlooking an opponent, so much so that they are incapable of performing and unable to execute their jobs, is a ridiculous notion at the professional level.

The "trap game" is an excuse for performing badly in order to minimize the blame, so your ego isn't quite as damaged, which allows you to mentally re-focus more quickly.
