We played a NT and 2 ENDS an MLB flanked by the 2 DB's (normally our bigger) safeties playing in the box and 2 pass rushing OLBs we then played corners and a 3rd safety up top. It was his way being able field a D that could handle any personnel set the O came out with from any of the alignments we knew of. And still blitz heavily every down Gave up 12 first downs the entire game and no scores. He got desperate in another game and we used it and we got torched even worse. Innovation is great but sometimes the tried and tested stuff whilst not glamorous may be your best friend. What happens when you run Turner up the middle with Mughelli hitting one of the safeties with an iso block? HolyDuckett: The immaculately conceived gay-love-child of HolyMoses and duckettplease. It is an old-school defense that requires a hefty amount of talent to get the job done, but is brutally effective when it gets going. Leon Hall is a #1 quality cornerback on just about any other team. They put everyone possible on Roddy and couldn't stop him. And it's not like the guy they brought in was Chris Owens, it was Pacman Jones. Dude was a star before his off-field troubles.

We got hammered when he used that against a run heavy team. Those safeties were not small. One was 6 2 and 230 + lbs the other was short but a hitter. It was not my preferred choice for D. We ran a 5 2 as well. That did very well on the run heavy teams. But again in my playing experience I prefer the 43 and its hybrid variations even though I end up playing out of position. I do wonder what will be the next innovative scheme or formation though. I hope its on defense. It needs the help with the hard time its being given. And to answer your question Turner scores and it makes Raheem Morris look like an ass. |
