Are you content with how the Falcons are playing???
One thing that stood out to me in the "King of the South" segment on NFLN...Trent Green saying that the Falcons "find ways to win".
Now don't get me wrong here (and not trying to take anything away from our team's hustle as of late) but I'm just not satisfied with the Falcons just finding ways to win. Personally, I want us to beat teams week in and week out with consistent, solid play on all phases. Just being honest guys, we could easily be sitting at 1-3 right now. I am happy as hell that we're 3-1, but in this league, you won't get far with just grinding and trying to claw your way to a win. Some teams are just that good and won't give you any second chances. TBH, I'm not sold on where we are as a team yet, although we have been showing signs of being that team I know we can be...I'm just hoping that it all comes together tomorrow. Comments???

RE: Are you content with how the Falcons are playing???
I would love for us to have the #1 scoring offense, and the #1 scoring defense in the league. I don't think any of us wouldn't. I would love to be winning every game by 14+ points, but that doesn't happen. So sure, there are things to work on(every team has that problem), but we're 3-1, and I am very content with our results.

See, I don't expect us to have the #1 scoring offense/defense and all that flashy stuff...I just want us to play more consistently.
Another thing, why are we still "working on things"??? Why are we still "trying to get better"??? We're in the 3rd year of this offense and the defense and it seems like things still aren't clicking. I will say, however, that the defense is the most consistent part for our team. The offense I'm not so sure about just yet.

EVERY team is STILL working on things. Even the 'great' teams. I'd say New Orleans is probably still working on getting their offense rolling. The Colts are still working on fixing their defense. The Chargers are still working on their special teams. No team is perfect. The difference between a 13-3 and a 9-7 team is that one is going to make some things happen, even when they don't play there best. I will say this though, my personal theory as to the offense inconsistencies is the offensive line. I do not think it is as good as it's been hyped. |

RE: Are you content with how the Falcons are playing???
Smitty stated when he first came in that this thing would be a process. He said a 3 year process did he not? Well, let me just say that we are in our 3rd year currently, and it looks to me like we are doing pretty dang well for ourselves so far this season. We may have had close games every week (Omitting the Cardinals game, of course.), but the important part is that we have been finding ways to win the football games. We are in year 3 of a 3 year process. So, if this is only the 3rd year, and the process isn't complete yet, can you just imagine how we will be looking next season?
I'm extremely content with the way our Falcons our playing. Not only have they showed hustle on the field, but they are showing that they are learning from top defenses in the league and starting to execute on plays. That's huge! And our offense? Well, they had a few sputters, but it looks like they are starting to get on track. I think Matty Ice, even though he's cool under pressure on the field, still gets a little shaken up when he gets hit. Especially when he is hit as often as he was getting hit in the 49ers game, and that's normal for any QB. I think our season is going great. If we keep finding ways to win the close games, and we never give up when we do have a big lead, we are going to have one heck of a season!

RE: Are you content with how the Falcons are playing???
Every team is still working on things, because as soon as you put something on tape, teams start working to defend it, so you have to keep working and modifying to keep it working.
1) Offense--somewhat satisfied with how it is going, see room to improvement and development, but the arrow is up. 2) Defense--like what I see, but do wish the big plays would be eliminated, but the arrow is up. 3) Special teams--other than the field goal team, they have stunk it up this year, and NEED improvement. Don't know why but it has to get better. This is what I think, so far the Defense has been the bright spot, with the Offense coming is second to it. Ignorance can be educated.....Stupidity is to the bone. |

I agree, I'm satisfied with the wins and the will we have to win, my problem is we have the personnel to be a high powered offense as well as an offense that controls the ball. all this trying to play safe actually hurts the offense because defenses play us different knowing that we won't put our foot on their throats. we complain about Turner running soft, well what about teams knowing what plays we're gonna run and stuffing him, which in turn makes our offensive line look weak. heck every game this year teams have figured out our snap count. sure a bunch of guys on here pull out stats and go 'but we're #1 in this & #4 in that & blah blah blah' but the truth of the matter, with those stats we still almost got beat at home & were lucky to have Hartley miss that FG. if we took some shots down field, even if we don't connect, we at least push them safeties back enough to give our RBs some room to do what they do. instead of all the roll-outs how bout a few quick slants. Ovie has shown he can be effective in the passing game ... use him. Roddy & HD are both burners, but they rarely get passes that allow them to get YAC. but that's just me, the majority of posters & fans are happy with the wins just like i am but I'd really love for us to leave no doubt that we're some bad mutha'effers cause we really are.

RE: Are you content with how the Falcons are playing???
I think the Falcons are pretty close to making the absolute most of what they have. I think Mularkey is doing a better job than last year and BVG is doing a much better job than last year.
As a matter of fact, this defense is better than I expected it to be, and I think it is going to continue to improve. I don't think the offense is going to get better than it has been in the 1st quarter. I think it is pretty close to maxed out. The fact that the team only has one consistent talent at WR kind of limits the offense. Nonetheless, every team in the league is flawed, and if the defense keeps getting better and the offense stays consistent, this team has a chance to do something in January. |

RE: Are you content with how the Falcons are playing???
Smitty was right on about there being just an inch of difference between the #1 team and the #32 team in the league.
We're a young team - getting better. The more they play together and mature as a defense and offense - the better they will be. I still think we're a good hefty left tackle, a TE for the future and another clutch WR away from being elite. ![]()

RE: Are you content with how the Falcons are playing???
3-1 record? Why wouldnt I be happy? A 4-0 record, maybe. That was a tough game we played in Pitt. I think it made us hungrier though. We get the ugly wins, and that's what matters right there. That makes those pretty wins look that much better.
This is my signature. |
