TD has also failed to resign our OL, which may indicate that were going to be headed in a different direction. It was brought up in another thread that TD likes to resign "core players" before they hit the FA market which he's failed to do with our OL. I'd be surprised if we don't draft an OL in the first round, and another in the late rounds.

This is TG's last year under contract, but I believe he'll stick around another year. What's going on with the Falcons is too special for him to leave. I'd like to see us draft our future TG in the second round, that way he can learn from the best before TG retires.

What are your 2011 draft predictions. Not who we draft, but what direction are we going to go in as far as position?

I think the reason he hasn't resigned any of out core OL is because there's no collective bargaining agreement yet. If they get one done look for him to sign either Clabo or Dahl if he can't resign both.

If a new CBA is reached and we're able to resign one or the other OL. I believe we will draft best player available that can impact the team. Norwood is probably gone after this season so I would think they might go after a change of pace RB, I think OLB is a need probably someone to take Nicholas's place and then OL, TE or DE.

^^ I think Falcons_Dawgs69 hit the nail on the head with that one. Offensive Lineman are usually the most expensive players on a team. And if there is no guarantee that there will be football next season, then I don't think the front office wants to spend the money. (And in terms of the CBA, it isn't looking good.)

I have a list of player breakdowns from my point of view on what will happen, (In my opinion anyway.)

Norwood won't be resigned, he's good as gone already.
Tony G will resign with the Falcons, perhaps another 2 year or 3 year deal. (He's shown that he still has "it" and can play pretty good damn football.
Blalock is serviceable and will be tendered.
Clabo is the resign-ee, if either of the two (Dahl or Clabo) are resigned. But I have a feeling based on TD saying he wanted to keep our core line together a couple seasons ago that they will both get done barring that a CBA is reached.

Now, in terms of our draft picks.. Here's how mine breaks down,

Round 1 - Offensive Guard, or a Center. (Being that Hawley can play numerous different positions I think we take either the best Guard or Center that we can get.)
Round 2 - Tight End, I think we get a tight end, regardless of what Tony G desides, and it will be a quick receiving tight end. Even if Tony G does decide to stay which is more than probable, we get a tight end that Tony G can mentor and help.
Round 3 - Running Back, we do need a fast, reliable speed back to complement the Turner/Snelling.
Round 4 - Defensive Back/Outside Linebacker, I feel we go defense, either more depth at Linebacker, or we get another DB either safety or corner.

If Tony Gonzalez doesn't resign with us, I see us taking the tight end in the 1st, and the OL in the 2nd.

I agree with you for the most part Chris. I definitely agree that it would be nice to draft our post TG TE. I'm not sure what Smitty and TD's plans are for Palmer yet. I think a solid TE will make Ryan's career much better. I agree with a RB in the third if we get rid of Norwood. As for the fourth round, I think we're gonna look for a physical WR rather than a CB/LB.

We drafted Kerry Meier for that reason. He's big, physical, good hands, and fast. I don't see why we would take a WR anywhere before the 5th round. If anything, I see us taking another LB. It's no secret that we're going to lose Petey in a year or two, he's definitely regressing. I think TD wants to keep the depth at the spot which we currently have. If we could draft another linebacker with potential that Stephen Nicholas has, imagine what this team could be.

We drafted Nicholas in the 4th round. Which is why I believe that we can get the same bargain again in this coming draft. I think a cornerback would also be a plus. I know we have Owens, and Grimes, but it would be nice to have another solid corner. Seeing as I don't really know how much Franks has progressed since being drafted.

id like to think kerry meier was drafted to fill finns spot when they finally let that dude go this year. we need a breast at wr. nobody has seen him on the field to justify our wr corps as being "set" yet. that said, im really high on meier other than the injury crap.

Could be. I can't help but think that he could be a very viable #2 option with his combination of speed, strength, and the fact that he's 6'2 definitely helps. Not to mention he has great hands. I wish he never got injured, I feel like he'd be doing great things in our offense.
