Am I wrong here?
First, I apologize if this is in the wrong forum. I wasn't really sure where to put it and I hope it's moved to the right place if I've posted in the wrong area. Anyway, I was at Dugan's on Ponce for the Saints game and met this FINE girl. We were talking, getting close, and just when I was thinking about getting her number and all I found out she was a die hard Saints fan. I immediately lost attraction.
I know it's stupid but I just can't get with a Saints or Eagles fan. I know it's thinking too far, but what if we have kids and they tried to make them Saints fans? I'd vomit. I've been hated the Saints since I started watching the Falcons in Kindergarten, can't cool that hate for a woman. My friends that were there thought I was insane, and I'm sure some of you do too. Any thoughts? |

RE: Am I wrong here?
Dude the same thing happened to me. I met this beautiful girl who actually was a singer that I listened to when I was younger(nobody really famous but still). We exchanged numbers and became friends on FB, but when I went through her photos she had one in a Aints hat and was talkin shit about us in her comments. I never called her back. I don't play that shit

RE: Am I wrong here?
Yeah I really don't think it would work if both were die-hard fans of different teams. For me personally the Falcons are a passion and I can't imagine arguing constantly over something that I love. Luckily my husband didn't watch football at all when I met him so I was able to convert and train him properly.

RE: Am I wrong here?
not trying to sound sexist, but 99 percent of the time, women can be changed in terms of football. My girlfriend of three years was convinced she loved the Chiefs because we live near Arrowhead stadium, 6 months later and she's wearing my Falcon sweatshirt every where she goes. If she came out as a Saint fan tomorrow and told me nothing would change her, I'd be looking for a new girlfriend.

I have ditched two girlfriends because I found out they were Cowboys fans.

Pretty much the same deal here except that my wife still doesn't care one way or the other. I mean, she wants the Falcons to win because it makes me happy, but that's as far as it goes. That's more than good enough for me, "Have fun at the game" is all I need to hear ![]() Honestly if she were a saints fan one of us would have had to de-fan and it wouldn't be me. There's no way it could work. Eventually the resentment would grow and there's no way I could stay diplomatic long term. Of course we never wouldve been married in the first place but I digress. I could probably handle something inert like if she was a fan of an AFC team where we would only have to endure it once every 4 years. Then again that could still suck with discussions etc... So I guess my advice is Falcons fan, great, fan of no one, that'll work too, fan of anyone else, I'd rather die in a fire

RE: Am I wrong here?
It was very difficult during the early years of our marriage. My husband was a die hard 49ers fan and I have always been a die-hard Falcons fan.
Now, we are both Falcons fans - but I must say - there have been some extremely difficult moments - and it takes a lot of tolerance - patience and respect of the other person as an individual. We agreed not to taunt each other or speak about the games for at least 3 days after big games. When one of us would slip on that agreement - it was ugly. I'm not lying - there were very difficult moments in our marriage over our teams. Thank goodness he finally converted over. Now, our life is so much more fun. I really wish he'd been a Falcon fan all along - it's just better when you celebrate together and love the same team - it really is. ![]()
