RE: Akeem Dent is now a Falcon
Special teams at best and insurance to Lofton ... i think he would be great fit for 3-4 ILB
this whole darft is bout Jones and how he pans out ........rest of draft is meaningless now unless we hit on a sleeper ![]() I'm delusional from our playoff loss against GB . Don't take me seriously until year 2413 . - Added by Phocis because of this post. Warned here. Do not remove. |

His 40 time isn't great, but his 10 yard is great, so is his 20 yard shuttle & 3-cone drill. Plus, he jumped 10'03" broad & 37.5 vertical, both of which are further & higher than many running backs & receivers in this draft. i'm thinking TD will let him walk and pick up the comp pick for him The Atlanta-Journal Constitution believes the Broncos and Lions are "set to make bids" for LB Stephen Nicholas once free agency kicks off. Nicholas had expressed an interest in signing with Detroit, but this is the first we've heard of Denver as a potential landing spot. Beat writer D. Orlando Ledbetter is "leaning toward" UCLA LB Akeem Ayers as the Falcons' pick at No. 27 overall. If GM Thomas Dimitroff doesn't grab a linebacker in the first round, he's expected to address the position later on.

If Mayock and Dimitroff have faith in the pick, I have faith in the pick. These guys have done more scouting than all of us combined! Dimitroff wasnt executive of the year for no reason. He knows our team and our needs better than any of us. If you are going to try and spread doubt and negativity, you are not a true fan and need to rid yourselves of these boards.

Spoon fit that bill. Does Dent? Yes, Dent only played ILB because GA switched to 3-4, if not for that, then he is a typical SLB. However, we don't have a backup behind Lofton & Dent can also play there because of his skillset. Our problem right now is, both Nicholas & Spoon are WLB's & Spoon got stuck playing SLB which he's not familiar with and because it didn't make sense to move Nicholas who already had the WLB position down & Peterson was still under contract to play SLB. This move now puts Spoon at his natural WLB position & Dent at SLB. Then I see Nicholas being trade material and Peterson released. Then Adkins and James can both come up and play backups & ST's which is where they're really valuable. |

RE: Akeem Dent is now a Falcon
I like this pick, I think like last year, it was a bit of a suprise, many are thinking that he was to high, well apparently TD recieved 2 differnet offers for trades so teams could move up and take Dent.
Dent has recorded a 40 Low of 4.68, while not a blazer, he should be expected to take over at SLB, which is usually for Run stoppers, and well if you though Martez the Human Missle Wilsom was a good pick to the saints, Dent had over 120 tackles this year, good enough for 2nd in the SEC or it might've been NCAA. NFLdraft Bible had him as their #1 ILB prospect, with NOLA Martez Wilson at #2, Mcshay had the same, Mayock had the 2 reversed. Interestingly enough Both Atl and Nola took tradiotnal ILB to play a OLB spot. Dent also comes from a strong leadership background and was the signal caller for the UGA D. So far we have accquired the consensus #2 WR and the consensus #1/#2 ILB ( which we will probably convert to OLB) Not to shabby, not to shabby at all. -My analysis |

Dent is a tackling machine, he also had 3 sacks from an INSIDE LB position last year. He should do even better from an outside position. His lower body is ridiculous, he has the squat record at UGA, which is something normally held by O-linemen, if that tells you something. I mean a 245 lb guy who can broadjump 10'3" & vert jump 37.5" is incredible. |
