You really need to drop the, "kids these days are spoiled and entitled brats" fantasy. It's tired and old and it's been played to death by generation, after generation, after generation now. Fantasy? LOL Every summer I take my kids, who are now 8 and 11 years old, to one of our neighborhood pools (a community of 1500 homes), and for every 1 healthy looking skinny kid between the ages of 3 and 15 eating fruit and drinking water, I see 9 kids who are overweight and unhealthy looking. With about half of those being grossly obese. And yet, they're sitting there by the poolside with a bag of chips, cookies, and sodas feeding their faces and begging for more. It's not a fantasy dude. There's a massive discipline gap and a generation of parents enabling a culture of lazy fatasses. Getting up an hour later isn't going to help it either. |

Very few of us are up and out the door to the highway by 6am. And I've been to my brother's neighborhood pool in Townlake and it's the same thing. I've been to my sister-in-laws pool in Bentwater and it's the same thing. And Bridgemill, which is a community of like 5000 now, is exactly the same. It's a freaking epidemic, I swear. |

I'd say on average of about 30 kids, maybe 5-8 would be obese, with 2-3 being what I would call grossly obese. Maybe fat kids like the pool. |

Highschool football is a pretty big deal. College scouts are in the stands, parents are hoping for those athletic scholarships for their kids. Coaches want the recognition of being able to develop and produce top-quality college athletes. A lot of pressure.

I said the average home in our 1500 home neighborhood is about $450k, and believe me, the vast majority of those folks are house-poor, if you understand what that is. Most of them have a family income of probably $100k-130k. |
