Star A look at our oline & ryans ypa
We gave up 17 sacks in 08 - Ryan has time and averages 7.9 ypa. Line looks good, run game is terrific, we win 11 games, offense is really explosive.

We gave up 27 sacks in 09 - Ryan is pressured more, run game falls way off, Ryans ypa drops to 6.6 ypa, offense looks stagnant for the most part.

We've given up 13 sacks so far (on pace for 35) - ryans ypa is 6.1 and our o has looked too much like the 09 birds.

Smitty really needs to re-evaluate the oline during the bye. They're not giving Ryan enough time causing him to checkdown and throw away too much. Can't throw down field if you don't have the time.

Our oline hasnt changed much .. its not really the oline..Its either the QB cant throw a deep pass and open up the field or its the OC that doesnt trust Ryan yet ..Its either or..The oline right now is facing all out blites cause we are not stretching the defense...We have no respect ...

Send Harry Douglas down the field
Send Roddy White down the field.

Open it up then we will see the teams not getting to our QB ..Right now everything is closed in..defense loading the box bringing the blitz and bumping our wrs .

You're out of your mind if you don't think our offensive line isn't a major problem.

Our oline is only giving up a sack 1 every 16 drop backs.. I will have to put 2 sacks on Ryan for not getting rid of ball and holding it on to long.. The fumble last week comes to mind.. Yes oline is a problem but that is from the lack of offense execution and the threat of a down field passing attack

defenses have no respect for Matt Ryan or Mularkey or even Roddy White..

Max Protect send 2 wrs out and have Ryan step back and sling it..

The OL is underperforming. Other teams have figured them out, and there has been more regression than progression.

Same can be said with our QB ..

we were all spoiled after his rookie year we all thought we had the 2nd coming . Now he looks like a avg QB and that can win ball games but will never be special and might never lead us to a championship unless we have a great defemse

I look at Ryan and Im just amazed how I havent seen any improvement in his game at all from his rookie year

I watch Jets games I seen Sanchez making quantum leaps from his rookie year to way he handles the ball and goes through his progressions and not turning ball over

I think it's hilarious anyone can say that a QB will never be special after a little more than two years. Phillip Rivers looked average (at best) until his 5th year.

So, the way to minimize the ever increasing number of sacks, hits and pressures Ryan has been withstanding this season is to have him hold on to the ball longer?

Why didn't I think of that?

Huh

avg at best 3rd year in guy put up a great season

3,300+ yards 22 tds only 9 ints

The reason why the Chargers were comfortable letting Brees go was cause of they knew what they had in Rivers

If you watch around the league ...from a looks standpoint from the way he throws/pocket presence /etc

Rodgers
Flacco
Sanchez

Im even starting to see improvement from Josh Freeman ....I have not seen the improvement from Ryan that we all hear about in off season workouts etc

have you ?

Not if you go to max protect and line up like its a smash mouth play but have 2 wrs flank...Least it will show a defense hey you have to respect our deep ball cause we do have a premier wr in Roddy so why dont we use him ..

Not 2 TE formations and Tony G coming off line which his routes slow to develop and allows a defense to blitz and hit Ryan ..

22nd in league in PYA ...that equals no respect and corners jumping short routes and loading box

football is real simple

RE: A look at our oline & ryans ypa
It all starts with the O-line...

You can't run the ball if there are no holes to run in...

you can't throw deep if your QB has 3 seconds before he gets hit....

The only way to stretch the field is to have a run game that is working...then you will have open receivers down field on play action...

With this offense, if your O-Line isn't performing in the running game, it sure can't perform in the passing game.

It's obvious that they need to come out on t he first series with play-action and throw the ball. Opposing Defenses are stacking the box on 1st and 2nd down. This way they can loosen the Defense and then run the ball later.
