10 Worst #1 Picks Ever - Guess who made the list at #8
Fox Sports
The 10 worst No. 1 picks in NFL draft history BACK NEXT 8. Aundray Bruce, LB, Atlanta Falcons, 1988Standing a chiseled 6-foot-5, 255 pounds and able to run a 4.5 40, Bruce was hyped as the next Lawrence Taylor as an All-American at Auburn. His pro career even had an auspicious start, too, as Bruce compiled 70 tackles, six sacks, two forced fumbles and two interceptions in his rookie season. Things went dramatically downhill from there, as Bruce showed no progress in his second season before falling off entirely soon after despite never suffering a major injury. He wound up spending 11 seasons in the league but started only 42 total games, a byproduct of his mental grasp of the game never catching up to his immense physical gifts. I really must confess........I thought Aundray Bruce was going to be awesome - i really did - he was freaky big/strong/fast with an intimidating style of play.
alas, he was stupid and - I guess - lazy. There was talent there though. |

I thought you were going to say JA98. Funny to think that the Vikings were one pick in front of Falcons and took Adrian Peterson. Wow - one spot difference.....
hmmmm.....on the one hand we have Adrian Peterson......on the other, JA98.........hmmmm........decisions, decisions......gosh that must have been a hard decision for the Vikings

We had no coaching back then, none or any kind of scouting or GM for that matter in 88 we draft Bruce #1 overall in 89 we draft Sanders @ #5 in 90 we draft Steve Broussard @ #20 in 91 we draft Pickens @ #3 and Favre @ 33 In a four year span we picked 2 Hall of Famers and 3 mega busts. Who else picks 2 HOF's in a 3 year span in any decade and has just 3 winning seasons during that time? By 93 both our HOF's were gone. From 1984-1994 we picked in the top 10 8 times yet could only field 1 winning team in that span. What the Fuck?!? If you don't think the Falcons are better off now then ever before you are deranged. |
