Falcon Fans Lack Passion
I have been a season ticket holder off and on since my Father gave me his season tickets in the late 1970s. There have been few Falcon Home games I have not attended over the past 30 years. My seats this year are in section 204 in the Mezzanine. While I have had a few run-ins with opposing fans over those years, none have ever come to more than a few shouting words. That all changed this Sunday versus the Saints.
There was an obnoxious Saint fan (O.K. a lot of them!) that kept bringing a “Go Saints” sign on paperboard up and down the aisle. This guy was a real *** as I had already had words with him in the men’s room. In the fourth quarter all the Falcons fans in our section had had enough, and when he brought his sign down the aisle I walked down and grabbed it, ripped it in about 8 pieces, and threw it over the rail. I told him to have a little respect when he is visiting someone elses home stadium. Falcon Fans cheered me and Saints fans jeered me of course. Well I thought that was that and as the game ended I began walking up the aisle to meet my wife and at least three Saint fans accosted me. I couldn’t ever see exactly who it was because everytime I stood up again I got punched in the face and knocked to the ground. Here we have three Saint fans in our Atlanta Falcon Home beating up a Falcon Fan and NOT ONE SURROUNDING FALCON FAN came to my defense! If that had happened in Philadelphia, Green Bay, or almost any other city, these Saint Fans would have wished they had never come to Atlanta. But in Atlanta its, ho hum, let me go home. Security came and had one or two of them in custody but I refused to press charges and left. Again, one of the problems with the Falcons is that we have ho hum fans, not like real fans in other cities.
