I wanted him as secondary coach
Reports are surfacing that Redskins secondary coach Jerry Gray is expected to be named head coach at the University of Memphis.
The announcement could come immediately following Memphis’ final game this season, Friday against Tulsa.
Tigers coach Tommy West will not return. After interviewing for the job this week, Gray is one of two finalists for the job, along with LUS RB coach Larry Porter.
Gray, who has acted as spokesman for the Redskins’ defense amid coordinator Greg Blache’s media boycott this season, leads a secondary that ranks first in the NFL in passing yards allowed at 161.6 per game despite only six interceptions.
