Jamaal Anderson: The Man, the Myth, the Legend

Regardless of what position everybody has taken, and we all know who backed who, this argument will go down in the annuals of Falcon MB as one of the most epic. The debate has offered some of the most interesting, outrageous and inspired posts ever seen on the MB.

From the nickname “Busterson” to the ingenius imaginary “three year rule” we have seen all the stops pulled out in this titantic struggle between good and evil. The actual truth about Jamaal probably is somewhere in the middle from being the worst draft pick in the history of the Falcons to being called a “force” by a delusional poster.

The man most responsible for this debacle, Rich McKay, has had his hands figurtively cut off from the reins of power and is relegated to strictly administrative duties. In my view the best thing for Jamaal would be to be released by the Falcons and go another team where his top ten draft status will not hang around his neck like an albatross.

This kind of spirited debate is what makes this MB one of the best in the NFL.

Sack expectations: Playing LDE vs RDE (they are different positions folks)

Playing RDE, you play what is known as the “weak” side and get to rush the QB from his blindside so he can see you coming. Playng LDE, you play the “strong” side and typically have the TE as an additional blocker and face much more mass coming at you over a season. The prototypical RDE has a different build and skill set than the prototypical LDE. For instance, John Abraham would never make it through a full year starting at LDE, he’s not built for it. He can play there in certain matchups, but I’m talking about starting there.

That said, out of 64 starting DEs in 2008 , only 7 had more than 10 sacks in the regular season and only 2 of them were LDEs..

DEs with over 10 sacks last year

John Abraham RDE
Dwight Freeny RDE
Jared Allen RDE
Julieus Peppers RDE
Mario Williams RDE
Justin Tuck LDE
Robert Mathis LDE

This analysis is not to compare, but instead to **contrast** the two positions. Please stop comparing the sack stats of LDEs with RDEs. They are not the same position. In fact, look at Julius Peppers sack numbers when he switched from RDE to LDE for a season:

2006 @ RDE = 13 sacks
2007 @ LDE = 2.5 sacks
2008 @ RDE = 14.5 sacks.

Peppers was getting 6 times the sacks playing RDE he did at LDE. It’s a different position folks.

For the record, if JA98 gets around 6-7 sacks this year while moving inside often on 3rd down , and if he plays excellent run defense and is in the backfield disrupting running and passing plays, flushing the QB out, getting QB hits, I’m sure he will have had a very successful season to the front office, coaches ,his teammates and many of the reasonable, informed objective fans that understand the considerable difference between playing LDE and RDE

One game that defined this season.

I just wanted everyone’s input on what was “The” game that defined this season for them. I know we still have Tampa Bay to deal with but, I just thought i would get my fellow bird watcher’s opinions. The first game against the Saints pushed every one of my emotions to it’s limits (and every one of Elam’s misses nearly made me want to throw my remote at my TV) and, symbolized the “Oh so close but yet so far” theme of this season.

WHAT DOES "BUMP" MEAN?

I see this word in every post I read and I still haven’t been able to figure out the meaning behind the word. Is it an acronym or something, I seriously don’t know and I am curious to find out? And while we are on the subject what is “trollin’”?

No Playoffs,No Pro Bowl,No Problem.

I`ve read alot of threads on here recently and they all say the same thing.
We should have been in the playoffs,we should have been in the ProBowl.
Guys look at the big picture, when we win Back2Back seasons one curse broken.
Next seasons schedule should be a little easier which means a healthy team and
playoffs and possible Superbowl.ProBowl will right itself in the process.
Keep your heads high.

WE ARE THE FALCONS BE PROUD AND SOAR…. ^_^

Jackson said on Wednesday, Dec. 30, 2009, that he's been fined $5,000 by the NFL for painting "DIII" under his eyes rather than using a standard strip of eye black during last weekend's game at Atlanta. Jackson said he intends to file an appeal and was surprised by the punishment because he's been wearing "DII" _ which stands for his Division III college football background _ since the Coe College product first broke into the league with Buffalo in 2007.
